Some things to ponder

Above, the line at the employment office, Brooklyn, and below, the slowest Post Office in the universe, on Fulton Street, Brooklyn.

Odd thing oozing a foamy, sticky, shining substance (not soap) on West 33rd Street, Manhattan.

Above, machines from the Machine Age.

An art show, Chelsea.

And this is a newly painted Jamaican plant store, Washington Ave, Brooklyn.

This Crown Heights liquor store is considerate enough to place a speaker at the base of the Captain Morgan display and pump music into the street for the benefit of all. Rum, anyone?

Yum.

Um.

The stuffed animals on Park Place persist against the odds.

Up on the roof - the view into Crown Heights and Prospect Heights on a bright winter's day

Looking southwest, over Prospect Heights, towards Manhattan and the Empire State Building on 34th Street

Two views of the intersection of Park Place and Washington Avenue, with the Williamsburg Bank Building, downtown, in the distance.

The detective agency across the street.

The No. 1 Kitchen Chinese Restaurant on Washington Ave.

The dome of the Brooklyn Museum in silhouette on the horizon.

Looking eastward into Crown Heights, and St. Teresa's Church below, on Classon Ave.

And this is a truly dilapidated building on the lot next door. Our landlord should clean this up, definitely. But then where would the squirrels and pigeons live? I choose to believe there are no rats living there as well. My choice.

Manhattan in a Deep Freeze, Temps hovering around 20F

In the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, the air is cold and crisp. I believe the camera captured the air quality - everything, every building, frozen solid.

Silent vigil at the Israeli Consulate, mid-town Manhattan, and scenes along the walk back to the subway

A demonstration sponsored by a coalition of Jewish groups against the bombardment of Gaza. It was a silent vigil, meaning no chanting or yelling. It seemed almost useless to me and I left after about half an hour. Maybe they did some good - who knows?

I passed the World Headquarters of the Pfizer Group. Scary chemical and pharmaceutical mega corporation. Artwork about chemistry in the lobby.

Then past the Helmsley Hotel, with this lovely 19th Century building, below, next door.

Faberge eggs in a shop window. Odd, because one was led to believe that these were precious and rare - and here's a whole lot of them. Forgive my ignorance about Faberge eggs.
